SettleBee — Privacy Policy

SettleBee is a mobile app for splitting and record-keeping shared expenses among a group (e.g. a trip). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how it's handled. SettleBee is developed by Karthik Ramia (the "developer"). If you have questions, contact lagkls@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Account info: the email address and password you sign up with, and your display name.
• Trip data: trips you create or join, and the expense and settlement records you and other trip members enter (description, amount, currency, date, category, who paid, how it's split).
• Photos: receipt photos and payment-confirmation photos you choose to attach to an expense or settlement, taken with your camera or picked from your photo library.
• Push notification token: a device token used to send you notifications about new expenses and settlements in your trips.

SettleBee does not process payments or move money — it is a record-keeping tool only. We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or location data, and the app has no ads or trackers.

How it's used

Your data is used only to provide the app's core function: splitting and tracking shared expenses within the trips you're a member of. Receipt/settlement photos are used to auto-fill expense details on your own device (text recognition runs locally on your phone — the photo is not sent anywhere for this) and to give trip members a record of the expense.

Who can see your data

Trip data (expenses, settlements, your name, and photos you attach) is visible to the other members of that trip — that's the shared record-keeping the app is for. It is not visible to members of trips you haven't joined, and is not shared with anyone outside the app.

Where it's stored

Data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Messaging for push notifications), acting as our service provider. Firebase security rules restrict access so only members of a trip can read or write that trip's data.

Data deletion

To request deletion of your account and associated data, email lagkls@gmail.com from the address associated with your account. We'll delete your account data within 30 days, except where retaining it is required by law.

Children's privacy

SettleBee is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
